Making Money from Home via Internet Surveys

You’ve seen the advertisements--in your email inbox, or while searching for jobs online.

Make money from your home by taking surveys! Nothing required except a PC and Internet connection! You could make hundreds of dollars per month! And you’ve wondered--how legit is it? Is it really possible to make money doing something so easy?

Yes and no. It certainly is possible to make money by taking online surveys. But the payoff is nowhere near as large as many advertisements lead you to believe. It certainly won't become your full-time job; at best, expect to earn a few extra dollars a week.

Many survey websites reward you with points, and allow you to redeem a certain number of points for money or other prizes. But a single survey may be worth 10 points, and even the cheapest of rewards worth 500 or so. For the prizes you want, you're going to have to take a lot of surveys.

Many also reward you with entries into their sweepstakes. This is great for the few people who win, as they’ll receive tens of thousands of dollars. But the odds of that person being you are next to none. It's a gamble, like buying lottery tickets, that's unlikely to have any payoff.

Some sites reward you with actual cash, but many have a limit as to how much you must earn before receiving a reward. A survey may be worth one or two dollars, and the site may not allow you to cash in your rewards until you've earned at least fifty. Not all are this high, however; some do have limits as low as five dollars.

You should also keep in mind that most sites don't send out survey invitations very often. Even when they do, there's a good chance you may end up not qualifying. You may still get something like a sweepstakes entry or a few points for these surveys you're unable to take, but you won't receive the full reward unless you qualify.

With that said, it is possible to make a few extra dollars taking surveys online. If you haven't been completely dissuaded from the idea, here are a few tips:

- They may be a pain to wade through, but read the privacy information and terms of use for each site you join. Some sites will sell your information to advertisers, contact you by phone, or other things you may not want. Carefully reading through the terms can avoid this.

- Sign up for a new email address from a free site like Hotmail or Yahoo. This way, you won't have survey invitations cluttering up an inbox you use for other things--or spam, if you accidentally join the wrong kind of site.

- Join as many different sites as possible. This is the best way to get around the typical lack of survey invitations. If you sign up for enough sites, you should get at least one or two sent to your inbox per day.

Follow these easy tips, and you could be earning a bit of extra money from your computer before you know it.
